Sisters in Steamboat Weekend is now open for registration.  This event is designed to give women a chance to invite their female relatives and friends (mothers, daughters, actual sisters and kindred sisters, lifelong girlfriends and new acquaintences – you get the picture) to join them in beautiful Steamboat Springs, Colorado, for a weekend of fun, relaxation and enrichment.  October is the perfect time of year to visit Steamboat Springs and the Rocky Mountains, not only for the spectacular fall colors and great temperatures, but also because this tourist destination is quieter and more personal in the fall than it is during the winter and summer months.

The theme of this year’s event is “Sleepless in Steamboat”, based on a comment from one of the doctor-presenters from last year’s event on the importance of sleep to heart and overall health.  The American Heart Association is a partner again this year and a recipient of a portion of the proceeds from the weekend.

The general outline of the weekend includes check-in to receive a welcome packet and gift and a welcome reception/cocktail party (and mingle opportunity), on Friday, early evening, leaving plenty of time for a nice dinner out or an evening activity.

On Saturday morning, we start with a continental breakfast, a plenary session with experts on women’s health and sleep, choices of enrichment sessions which will include dream interpretation, the basics of feng shui, the are of relaxation, decorating your sanctuary, nutrition tips for better sleep, and much more.  In addition, there will be activities offered (some with an additional cost) to address revitalization and rejuvenation. Take a Zumba or nutritional cooking class, for instance. There are lots of choices.  You may partake of as much or as little of these activities as you wish.  Some people like to have planned choices and others like to do their own thing.  There is plenty of time to shop, eat, browse, soak in the hot springs, walk or bike the bike trail, and check out the history and/or art museums.

On Saturday evening, we will have a “pajama party”, complete with a costume/pajama contest, a Zumba dance session for beginners, toe and/or nail painting opportunities, short chick flicks, light snacks and beverages.  Other surprises are in store.  We are really looking forward to this party!
